Welcome back to Smartt Takes! In addition to giving you all your 2020 candidate updates, we’re debuting some new sections this month. Read on to find out more, but I wanted to quickly highlight the “People on Policy” section. One of the most frustrating elements of politics/policy is how inaccessible it can be. The goal with this section is to pick a very boring but very important policy topic (this month is health care) and talk a bit about where the candidates stand. Not sure it’s possible to make these discussions super interesting, but I’ll try my hardest. Feedback on this, and any other section, is of course welcome.  Alright, let’s get to it.

Back in the inaugural issue – Pete Buttigieg (aka Mayor Pete) and Andrew Yang weren’t recognized on the street, Bloomberg was going to use his newfound D identity to wager a run, and Beto was merely but a dream for some. My my how things have changed.
