Smartt Takes 2024: Democrats' Near Fortnight-mare of Events

As the saying goes, Democrats never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

This issue was delayed because at first this was solely going to cover the post-debate fallout and the groundswell of dissent coming from inside the Democratic Party. And then the Supreme Court said hold my fckn beer, and I wanted to include them, so, initially I did. However this is quite lengthy, so I’m gonna spare you the extra verbiage and you’ll get a separate Supreme Court update shortly.

TLDR: this issue is primarily about the Democrats.

There’s a lot to unpack here and things are moving at a clip (i.e., Biden may be over talking about the debate, but Democrats are not done talking about it — see Nancy Pelosi’s less than glowing endorsement of Biden’s campaign this morning; and George Clooney’s op-ed calling for a new nominee, despite having hosted a record-breaking fundraiser with Biden 3 weeks ago)…so bear with me.
